What a week...

This week is so exciting for myself and u2rblessed.

Rhonda & I leave Tuesday to fly to Atlanta for the International Gift & Home Furnishing Market, July 15-19.

We will be in building 3, floor 5 booth 5-310 (if you will be there, please stop by and say Hi).

This is our SUPER BOWL of the year for the business!!!

I have been a slacker wife, mom and friend getting ready for this show.

I think my answer to everything lately is "after Atlanta...".

I am so grateful to all my friends and family who have been putting up with me.

A huge thanks goes to Lisa and Leah for helping me out on the last minute request for photos.

Lisa, who happily modeled for me tonight so I could have photos of our super cute new hats

(I have been a flower making machine, but I LOVE them!)

and Leah, the amazing photographer behind Ever After by Leah and great friend,

who stopped everything she was doing (she was painting a china cabinet) to help me out by taking them.

I think they both ROCK it!!!

One of great things about owning your own small business is the other remarkable women you meet

who have their own business.

I feel very blessed to get to kick off this exciting week by being part of -NOT ONE BUT TWO- giveaways.

The Adventures of Team Hope Chest

I met Becky at the Believe Boutique and fell in love with their hair accessories and then their blog.

We will be at La-di-da designs Boutique Thursday, Friday (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) & Saturday (10 a.m. to 6 p. m.)

located at 1458 N. Higley Rd in Gilbert.

We had to set up late this evening after all of the other vendors were gone.

There was so much fabulous booths, all I wanted to do was walk around and see all the beautiful items.

I Love Fridays (Guest Post)

Hi everyone! My name is Robin Norgren of Well of Creations and I am so pleased to be a part of I Love Fridays. In one of those "small world" situations, I "met" Suzi through Kelly Rae Robert's Flying Lesson e-course while I was living in Germany where my husband is stationed with the Navy. Small world because I am a former resident of Chandler Arizona!

Having arrived back "home" in Arizona about a month ago (while my husband remains in Germany to finish his deployment), this week is truly the first week where life has "felt" normal. So it is very nice to commemorate that feeling with this segment. So here we go - three things I am grateful for this week:

1. Starting a creative mommy and me e-course offered by The Wish Studio

I am so pleased with these structured fun projects to help my little one and I get back into the swing of our creative life. Did I mention that I won a contest or I would have been too overwhelmed to look into this. Hooray!

2. Creating my own personal art again this week
This week was the first time that I took out the paper and the paints and sat and waited patiently... It felt good to put thoughts on paper and pull things out of my heart. I have been blessed that this is where I feel GOD meet me in a very intimate way.

3. The #1 Most fun Josey and I have together?

Bouncing in those HUGE indoor bounce structures!

Because Labor Day weekend is still incredibly HOT in Arizona, this was definitely a fun and FABULOUS alternative to the heat.

Thanks so much to Suzi for allowing me to be in her space this week. I do feel truly blessed and I love these weekly "stop and remind myself" moments.

This morning we woke to rain clouds, something we don't usually see here in the valley.

So I took advantage of the cooler weather ( it was only 96 degrees today)

to get some soldering done in the garage.

I am grateful for my son's imagination.

Whether building a teepee in the forest or a raft for the pool,

he is really into being 'Survivor Man' nowadays.

Garrett has used AKA's in the past, and he now insists on being called "Dave" (from Dual Survivor) when he is out "surviving".
His ability to think up new things, see the possibilities and use his imagination
helps keep me and Ivan laughing.....

Goodbye Kathleen

The Kathleen collection was inspired by our sister'n'law who had battled breast cancer for years.

Unfortunately, she passed away yesterday, another victim of cancer.

Kathleen was very quick witted, articulate and a general blast to be around.

She was never afraid to speak the truth or shy away from a challenge.

She always enjoyed conversation,

***

a glass of good wine

***

and a chance to show her love for others.

***

She started to feel worse about a week ago and when we visited her in the ICU last Sunday,

she told us, "you know what happens next". We do.

Her life, and passing, will not only be memorable to her family and friends,

but also to the cancer ICU at the Tucson University Medical Center.

SOMEHOW, Ivan's sister, Karen, talked the nurses into allowing their pets (3 dogs and 2 cats) to visit Kathleen one last time before she was taken off life support. Walking those animals down the hallway of the hospital, we could only wonder if Kathleen was dying from laughter. We could just see her rolling her eyes and saying, "Karen"!

Kathleen blessed the life of many....

Peace, Love, A Cure

Cancer has touched most everyone's life in some fashion, directly or indirectly.

Ivan's sister'n'law, Kathleen, is currently battling breast cancer. Some of the people I admire most in this world are those with terrible diseases and burdens, and who choose to still recognize their blessings. I admire their courage, their faith and their positive attitudes. When I met Angie, one of the owners of Lulu's Moonfish, and she asked if I would be interested in designing and producing some shirts to help her raise the funds in order to enter the Susan G. Komen 3 day walk,

I couldn't have been happier.

The end result is what I call the "Kathleen Collection"

A portion of the purchase of each item we sell from the Kathleen collection will be donated to

the Susan B. Komen 3 day Race for the Cure.

check out Lulu's Moonfish on the corner of McClintock and Warner in Tempe.

She has one of the cutest home decor & gift boutique in the East Valley.

Honoring a Hero

Tonight Chandler Law Enforcement Association is having a fundraiser for Officer Travis Murphy's family. With my husband being a police officer, Officer Murphy's death hit us very hard. We feel very blessed to have been able to produce and donate 200 t-shirts for this cause, 100% of the proceeds will go to Officer Murphy's family.

There will also be a raffle and silent auction that will include gift cards and certificates for bars/restaurants, services, gym memberships and other businesses.

LOTS of sports stuff too, including multiple golf rounds, hotel stays, game tickets and memorabilia.

So please come out and help us honor a hero!

I came across this blog called Operation NICE. It is a wonderful blog about just being nice, everyday to everyone. I love it! I know reading it is going to help me remember to just be nice. Here is some information from Melissa's blog.

Please join us at the Duane Ellsworth Extravaganza in Queen Creek this weekend. The Art, Craft & Vintage Show starts Friday at 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., and then again Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a country concert with Michael Peterson on Saturday night. There will be lots of activities for the kids and if you love bull riding and horse riding events this is the one to see! The event is at the new Queen Creek Equestrian Park on Riggs Rd just before Ellsworth (it is a beautiful place). We will be located in the barn area with plenty of lighting if you come Friday evening. It's going to be a gorgeous weekend with no rain, so come out to see us! Plus you can come check out our new St. Patrick's Day shirts that are only $12.

A Brophy College Preparatory senior died Tuesday after suffering a severe brain injury when he was struck by a car during a 24-hour endurance relay race over the weekend. Robert Mayasich, 18, died at 12:20 p.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital three days after he was airlifted in critical condition from the darkness of Arizona74 just west of Lake Pleasant. Event coordinators said the teen was part of a 12-person team in the Ragnar Relay Del Sol race from Prescott to Tempe, though he was not running his leg of the race at the time he was struck by a westbound Toyota Camry Solara. The teen's father, Dan Mayasich, issued a statement Tuesday, thanking the community for its support during the past few days.

"It has been an honor, a privilege, and our greatest joy to raise this beautiful, smart, musical, and kind-hearted boy as our own," Mayasich said. "Time is such a relative thing, and we choose to think that 18 years with someone so wonderful, so magical in our lives is a great gift.
We are truly blessed."

What an amazing person, who even in such great tragedy can recognize his blessings. He is truly inspiring.

One of my sayings is "you don't have to look far to see how good you have it." In that I mean someone always has it worse. Today is one of those reminder days.

The earthquake in Chile makes me once again look at my life and understand how good I have it. The news reports say that the earthquake did not cause the damage in Chile like the damage that was done in Haiti.

There are a number of reason which include the earthquake happened outside capital and Chile has much better building codes - Isn't that a blessing?

Sure it is a blessing! But it may not mean much to people who lost love ones.

On the other hand there will be poeple who have lost everything including love ones who will be thankful to be alive. It never ceases to amazes me how people who go through very troubled times and survive always seem to find away to find a way to count their blessings.

I had a very long week, full of work and little down time. Most of the work did not necessary give an immediate result which can be frustrating. Waking up this morning to the news about the earthquake made me realize how blessed I am and I hope it does the same for you.

Keep the people of Chile and Haiti in your prayers and remember how good you have it - I think we owe it to them!

Yesterday we attended a Memorial Service for our dear friend, Carolyn Cooke. She passed away two days before Christmas and although it is very sad time for all of us, it was also a fitting time for her. She absolutely loved Christmas. Her house was always so beautifully decorated for the season. Every year she would have us all over for cookies and a visit with Santa. She had the biggest heart and was truly inspiring. We will miss her but she will always be in our heart.

A Father's Blessing

As a father, I find most of my blessings stem from my kids. I know that sounds obvious but they bless me in so many ways. Here is an example:

On Sunday we drove past a homeless man sitting on a bench. All of us noticed him but I don't remember anyone in the car said anything. As we exited the vehicle, my daughter Dani found a five dollar bill near the curb. As she turned to me with the five in her hand, I could see it in her eyes - I simply said "do you want to give it to him?" She nodded and ran the 1/2 block to man handing him the five dollar bill.

I know this act of kindness could be seen as a blessing for only the homeless man who now can buy a cup of coffee on a chilly morning. I know it was a blessing for Dani as well to be able to selflessly give to someone in need.

More than that, I think I was blessed most of all. Knowing that my little girl, who is saving for a DSi, was willing to help another human being - selflessly as she did, without hesitation, filled me with joy and pride to know her. Being her dad is icing on the cake!

Blissfest was a blast

Friday night some friends watched our son and we headed off to Blissfest. We loved it (me more than Ivan-not really a guy thing), all of the vendors were amazing and it was probably good Ivan came along or I would have bought something from everyone. We met some new friends and ran into our first official customer, the sweet Maija

We also met Renee and her sister Dana wearing our shirts. Ivan knows Renee from spin class at 5:15 am (crazy) and Dana flew in from San Diego for Blissfest. Thanks girls, you look great!!!

Can't wait until the next Blissfest, hopefully we can be a vendor at that one.

Walking Zoowalk 2009 for Autism Research

donate a portion of our profits to local charities.

This weekend we were blessed to be able to sponsor
"Team Stevenson" in the Autism Zoowalk 2009 in Phoenix, AZ.

The money raised supports the Biomedical Research Programs
at Arizona State University.

The Stevensons are very close friends of ours.
Their wonderful son has Autism
and has been treated with various programs that has
him well down the road to recovery.

His parents know that that the programs are a big part of his remarkable progress.

Although Phoenix set heat record of 102 degrees on Saturday,

everyone had a blast!

Let’s start this blog off with telling you a little bit about how we got started. As a group of friends, we have always tried to remember the many ways we have been blessed. On a sunny summer afternoon recently, we found ourselves talking about the struggles so many of us have in our day to day lives. Periodically we would be interrupted by the laughter of the kids as they swam, the need to flip the burgers and hot dogs or some other not quite so big matter……. And we came to realize, and verbalized with one another, how truly blessed each of us is. It is all those small things in our day to day lives that we need to remember. Those are the true blessings. Happy kids, sunny afternoons, good friends, food to share, etc.

Life can sometimes bring burdens on us that we think we cannot overcome. It is very easy to only focus on the negative. Each day you get to decide what you will fill your mind with-and we choose to remember and focus on the good. And the more we talked about it, the more we realized there are many people of the same mindset.

In June of 2009, our friend Dennis and his kids came over to swim. Dennis, Ivan (my husband) & I were sitting poolside discussing all that was wrong in the world, including our own world. The conversation ranged from one of us being let go from a full time corporate job, to being "upside down" on our houses. And every time another topic came up, we agreed there was always a silver lining. We talked about all the job opportunities a sudden layoff provides. Even when money was tight in our household, we recognized the blessing a home brings with its love and laughter within. All of our basic needs are being met; our kids are healthy and did I mention we were sitting poolside!

We came to realize, and verbalized with one another, how truly blessed each of us is. And from that conversation we realized we wanted to share that message with everyone. We developed this discussion a bit further and started u2rblessed that same day. The word “blessed” seems to sum up how good we have it. Simply stated, we are grateful for what we have and by being grateful we can have an effect on others to make them understand how good they have it. Focusing on the positive and paying it forward!
